The precise definition of transgender remains in flux but includes: a person whose identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender roles, but combines or moves between these; people who were assigned a sex, usually at birth based on their genitals, but who feel this is a false or incomplete description of themselves; non-identification with, or non-presentation as the sex (and assumed gender) one was assigned at birth.
The Pedal Pusher Society is inclusive to trannies because, like women, people who are transgender also feel the negative effects of male privilege and should have a welcoming space to ride bikes.
Hey,
I discovered your website by chance and enjoy the clips you made. I’m a feminist, being part of a group in France and we’re soon organising an event to support our radio project. We want to show some video clips and we’d like to show yours.
What do you think about it ?
Keep pushing !
Uli
Oups, this was not the right place … Well, I found I really like what you do when I read some trannies are part of your gang !
This is rad, thank you. I’m not sure if anyone checks these messages, but I’m curious to ask how the PPS feels about transmasculine-identified bikers who “pass,” but can’t stand the cis-male dominated biking world? I feel conflicted riding with the PPS (because I understand and respect the importance of female-identified and appearing riding space), but hate riding with dudes who suck. Thnx!
We’re glad you like it, and you’re welcome! PPS was formed as, essentially, a direct response to that which you highlight, and we welcome you with open arms and spare bike tubes, to boot. Bring your transmasculine-identified self on out for our next ride!
